About PawlyCanEat
PawlyCanEat is a free pet food safety resource built for pet owners in Thailand. We help you quickly check whether a food is safe for your dog or cat, backed by veterinary science. Whether you're worried about a food your pet just ate or planning a new diet, PawlyCanEat gives you clear, trustworthy answers in seconds.
Our Data Sources
All food safety information on PawlyCanEat is sourced from trusted veterinary authorities:
- ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center — the leading reference on foods and substances toxic to pets
- WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) — global veterinary nutrition guidelines
- Peer-reviewed veterinary research — published studies in accredited veterinary and nutritional science journals
We take data accuracy seriously. Our database is reviewed regularly to stay current with the latest veterinary science.
How It Works
PawlyCanEat offers three core tools:
- Food Search — search any food by name and instantly see whether it's safe for dogs, cats, or both, with a detailed explanation
- Safety Ratings — each food is rated Safe (green), Caution (yellow), or Danger (red), based on veterinary evidence
- Calorie Calculator — estimate daily calorie needs for your pet based on weight, age, and activity level to support healthy portion planning
Important Limitations
Please keep these limitations in mind:
- Not a substitute for vet care — information on this site is general guidance, not veterinary advice. Always consult your vet for health concerns
- Every pet is different — individual pets may have allergies, health conditions, or sensitivities not captured by general safety ratings
- Database not exhaustive — we cover the most common foods, but some items may not yet be in our database
- Appropriate portions matter — even safe foods can cause problems in excessive amounts
