🐕 Safety Analysis — Dogs

Contains persin, a fungicidal toxin. Dogs have a relatively high tolerance to persin compared to birds and other animals, but large quantities can cause vomiting and diarrhea. The pit poses a choking hazard and can cause intestinal obstruction.

Symptoms to Watch For

Vomiting, diarrhea (in large quantities).

🐱 Safety Analysis — Cats

Contains persin. Cats appear to be less sensitive than birds, but more research is needed. High fat content may cause gastrointestinal upset.

Symptoms to Watch For

Vomiting, diarrhea (in large quantities).

Additional Notes

Small amounts of the flesh are unlikely to be harmful to dogs/cats. Avoid the pit, skin, and leaves, which contain higher concentrations of persin.
