Contains thiosulphate (more concentrated than in onions) which causes oxidative damage to red blood cells, leading to hemolytic anemia. Toxicity is dose-dependent and can be cumulative.

Weakness, vomiting, pale gums, red-colored urine, rapid breathing, lethargy, collapse.

Highly toxic due to thiosulphate causing hemolytic anemia. Cats are very sensitive to this substance, even in small amounts.

Lethargy, pale gums, red or brown urine, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid breathing.

Additional Notes

Garlic is 5 times more potent than onions. Even garlic powder in food can be toxic.
