Shallots, part of the Allium family, contain thiosulphate which can cause hemolytic anemia (destruction of red blood cells). They are more concentrated than onions and highly toxic.

Symptoms to Watch For

Weakness, vomiting, pale gums, red urine, rapid breathing, lethargy, collapse.

🐱 Safety Analysis — Cats

Highly toxic Allium family member that causes anemia. Cats are particularly sensitive to this compound. Complete avoidance is recommended.

Additional Notes

More concentrated toxins than common onions. Very dangerous.
